It is absolutely beyond my computing intelligence to remotely understand what is going on with the processing of PYTHON tasks. It is inconceivable that 50-51 seconds of computing time is needed to achieve 1 second reduction in time remaining. At that rate of processing virtually over 90% or so of downloaded tasks will be declared "no response" because they exceeded the time limit for reporting. Apparently I will disconnect from Rosetta after I await an overnight response from someone that can enlighten me as to what is the problem Surely I am doing something wrong. Billy, I haven't run Python in a long time but please check the properties tab of those tasks. If you notice a very large discrepancy between elapsed time and CPU time (for example, 4 hours of elapsed time but 1 minute of CPU time), abort. No one from the Rosetta@home will reply to you. |

@Falconet: Thank you for the informed and concerning reply. Surely there are currently thousands of hours of perceived computing power going absolutely to waste. I am monitoring World Community Grid which as you and others are aware was fairly recently transferred to the University of TORONTO, and I am convinced that we are going to have some excellent and rewarding scientific work to place on our computers. I am VERY excited about this and I encourage everyone to follow closely the full activation of WCG on Krembil; potentially even as we are communicating now!!!! Bil |

World Community Grid is currently under 24-hour delay. they will get it right!!! |

It is what it is. I managed to run some Python's with no issues but in-between those, there were some bad ones. Up to the Rosetta@home team to work on improving the software, if that is their wish. Yes, I am looking forward to getting back to WCG. The next update is on the 12th. In the meantime, I've mostly been running Einstein@home. |

Frankly I have had it with the Python tasks and the wholesale waste of my computers time. The last two tasks (two of many) I downloaded and processed seemed to do reasonably well until reaching about 25 minutes remaining; And from that point on the time remaining decreased about ONE SECOND for every about180 seconds running. I kept my fingers crossed that somehow the problem would be self resolved and the tasks would be completed on time. No way; hours of processing time wasted and I am disgusted and am going to dismiss myself from Rosetta and await for Tuesday the 24th of May to arrive and hopefully the WCG program now under The University of Toronto will open up the new World Community Grid project with oversight and management by the outstanding team of Kembril people. By the way, I have arrived at the point in my life wherein I can purchase whatever equipment I need to make the greatest contribution to distributed computing and its contribution to the World's Research For Scientific Findings. I would welcome any technical advice about what specific type of computers and Graphics Processing Units I should buy to affect the most good. And this I will say: When Dr. Baker and his team get their act together I will be happy to return to Rosetta and contribute my support with joy and success. |

On another topic. I do not have python running and for the past 2-3 months have been receiving very few work units. Can someone explain what' s going on? Thanks! |

I can run rosetta python, QuChemPedIA@home. LHC@home both Atlas@home and SixTrack@home, , Einstein@home both on CPUs and GPUs. No World Community Grid Task is available and I doubt I shall ever see them. This on 3 Windows PCs, one very old Linux laptop and one Linux Virtual Machine unning OpenSuSE Tumbleweed, a development version updated very frequently. It runs a 5.17.7 Linux kernel, so I have to reboot it very frequently. It runs Einstein@home CPU tasks and nwchem CPU tasks. Tullio |

For some strange reason I'm now receiving regular work units. Thanks!! |

For some strange reason I'm now receiving regular work units. Thanks!! Unless more are generated soon the non-Python tasks will run out in 2 days at most. We were gifted about 3.5m work units and we’re now down to less than 500,000. |

Unfortunately, after the last Boinc update a couple days ago, I'm no longer receiving any work units. |

You might just need to click "Allow" at the bottom of this page: https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/show_host_detail.php?hostid=3371484 It disables the VirtualBox jobs if your computer returns errors, which all of mine do from time to time, usually due to the not starting bug, or the dropping to 0 CPU usage bug. |

Hello I hav been Rosetta@home member since 16 Jul 2022 and I still didn't receive any task. Is it normal? For the purpose of testing Boing, I then launched another project (amicable number) allowing other projects to be launched. Should I stop the other project in order to receive tasks fro Rosetta? |

Most of the work units are the Pythons, which require VirtualBox (be sure virtualization is enabled in the BIOS). Also, they require about 3 GB of memory each, so you won't be able to run more than two on your machine. Finally, in your "Computer Information", be sure to enable "VirtualBox VM jobs". It should work. |

VirtualBox is installed and opened. It shows me an empty list of virtual machines and I can add what i want (no "Python" or so listed). BIOS: "Intel-VT" (for intel virtualization technology) is enabled. BOINC manager notified "VirtualBox non installed" but now it's gone (no notification) after reboot. "Computer information": I don't find "VirtualBox VM jobs" on any screen (project computer screen, computer sttings ...). Do you mean somewhere here ? https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/show_host_detail.php?hostid=6212005 When I go to your computers, I don't see any other information via Rosetta project, but via climate prediction project, I see https://www.cpdn.org/show_host_detail.php?hostid=1533264 "Virtualization Virtualbox (6.1.32_Ubuntur149290) installed, CPU has hardware virtualization support and it is enabled" I connected to climate prediction to see what it says on my computer. It says: Virtualization Aucun(e) If I try opening a virtualization via VirtualBox, it ask me to free dedicated space on my HD. Is it really needed ? |

You don't really need to open VirtualBox at all. The configuration is all taken care of by the project with its .VDI file I think. But to find the "Computer Information", go to "Your account". Then select "Task". Then select "Computer". You will see "VirtualBox VM jobs" at the bottom. They make it as hard to find as possible. This is really an orphan project with a lot of things wrong with it, as you will discover. Good luck. |

Thank you for your patience. I have it all in french. Here is the link I get for my computer: https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/show_host_detail.php?hostid=6212005 I don't see anything about Virtual box here. Do you see it ? On my account to the climate prediction project, it's written that there is no Virtualization on my computer: https://www.cpdn.org/cpdnboinc/show_host_detail.php?hostid=1533682 May be I have to change something anywhere else ? (on the BIOS, Intel-VT is enabled) May be something on Ubunto ? (ver 17) |

Thank you for your patience. I have it all in french. Here is the link I get for my computer: No. That is the correct page. Maybe it is not there because you don't have VirtualBox installed? It should show up. On my account to the climate prediction project, it's written that there is no Virtualization on my computer: The simple way to install VirtualBox on Ubuntu is just: "sudo apt install virtualbox" That will get you the version provided for your software distribution, and should work. But what I would do is to download the latest version, depending on which distribution you have. https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads Then, you can just right-click on the ".deb" file, and use Ubuntu Software Install. Maybe that will get it to work? PS - After installation, you need to reboot in order to get BOINC to recognize it. It should show up about on line 14 of the BOINC log. |

OSLinux 4.15.0-142-generic Version BOINC 7.6.31 VirtualBox Version 5.1.38_Ubuntu r122592 Terminal says it's the latest version. Rebooted. No change. I think I'll give CPU to other programs |

3 to 6 hours is the expected run time? Really? My rosetta python 1.03 (vbox64) runs all show up with an estimated run time of 8 hours. Most of these runs get down to the last 15 minutes and bog down, many taking more that three days so complete the last few minutes. They usually are rejected as they timed out with no response. Job deadlines of 14 days? My pythons time out after 3 days. |
