Has anyone messaged Zari about the "boinc-process" server shutting down on a regular Wed through Friday schedule?

Err... who is Zari?
I have had an email to use in the past, and I did use it when it first started happening, but it stopped being responded to a couple of years ago.

Edit: boinc-server <is> back running very early on Friday (UK time)
Nearly all my pendings have been cleared already

I get wu's that show up in tasks and transfers but they are stuck at 0. I have cleared all the tasks, no change. Updated the project, no change and finally reset the project with a computer restart. Its been like this for a month. Linux 7.18.1. What's going on?
Checkout the thread about download issues.

The web site is as slow as a month of Sundays, and the forums are almost dead in the water- took 5min for this "Post to thread" form to come up. Now to see how long it takes to actually post it (the last one was almost 5 min).

Update: It all of the sudden started working. Didn't change anything, but its the first time it has worked in maybe a month or two. Surprised the IP address fix hasn't been fixed or the certificate issue. Instead we have all these work-arounds. We'll see if the wu's complete and get accepted while there is work available.

I was a bit concerned about tasks running down to around 500k left, but now see it's bumped up to nigh on 3m.
We're having a good run since early-mid Jan.
Fingers remain crossed.

Err... who is Zari?
I have had an email to use in the past, and I did use it when it first started happening, but it stopped being responded to a couple of years ago.

Do they listen? I emailed someone up at the top once some time ago and they never replied.

Maybe we need to locate the actual Sysadmin to the servers?

At one time, yes, and very rapid responses and solutions.
Then it stopped, never to return.
I did persist for a good while, sparingly, hoping I was being read, just not replied to, but the lack of any resolution convinced me it was over.
I had a good run while it lasted.

Edit: I'm reminded it's Wednesday...

Hey, so i started getting some Rosetta Beta v6.06 tasks but they kept failing... Here is the log
10 out of a hundred or so, 10% failure rate.
Just another dodgy batch (but not as bad as some other batches).

Hi,

I have located the email for the University of Washington IT Help desk.

I have asked for help with both the security certificate issue and the clock-like shutdown/start of the "boinc-processing" HOST.

I have also pointed them to this thread for further research.

I have asked for a specific System Admin contact for these and future issues.

Maybe this will help. Maybe it won't. Worst case is just the "status quo".

Respectfully,

Tom M

It's worth a try. And worth a try from someone who isn't me. Good luck.

My other two issues in response to the recent news update were
Second biggest issue seems to be the incorrect setting of default runtimes to 4hrs on tasks running through Rosetta Beta 6.06 - instead of 8hrs

Third biggest issue is the daily cleanup job that awards credit to tasks with Validation failures (without Compute errors). This job hasn't run for a year or more

Both these issues would be very quick fixes for a hefty return imo.

Edit: Being early Friday UK time, the boinc-process server has come back online.
Validation catch-up is often very quick, going by past form.
Edit 2; I replied instead of edited - oops

In case anyone hasn't noticed this particular issue, I had it happen to me just today
See here
Ran perfectly, completed successfully, validation fails for no known reason - no credit.
The daily cleanup job looked for these instances and awarded due credit. Doesn't run any more
Very annoying

Screensaver problems with RosettaVS.
But, at the end, who cares? The important part is the scientific results and, up to now, all wus are validated!!

Strange: Mine all run 8 hours. I have seven of those running right now on Linux.
