All:

My primary system is not receiving work units. The message says that I reached my daily quota of 8 results. With an Core i920, I can run 8 WUs at a time. Any ideas?

Thank you
Thx!

That machine has been throwing a boatload of errors. Some of the errors are downloading, others are compute errors. BOINC steps down the number of WUs you can get if they error out, and rapidly steps it up when you start returning valid results again. You are now limited to 1 WU per CPU per day.

Why it is throwing the errors is an entirely different thing. Heat? Failing hardware? Bad karma?

I just looked at some of the compute errors and all the ones I saw had problems with the files downloaded. As all the errors appear to relate to downloading that suggests something with your connection to the server.

Have you updated or changed your anti-virus software or firewall recently?

Thanks for the help.

I have not changed anything. My AV software does all kinds of automatic downloads, upgrades, etc. I guess I need to find a way to exclude Rosetta.

This machine has chronic problems with Rosetta and it is too bad because I bought this one to drive my RAC way up.

I can always look forward to my next build :-)
Thx!

I am using CA Security Center for AV. Could this be corrupting my downloads? I only have CA Security Center on this one computer. Everything else uses shareware / freeware for AV.

If anyone has ideas, I am open to try some changes. I need to get my RAC going again.

Thx!

Turn the av off and do a manual update and see if they come thru corrupted, if not you have your culprit. Make sure you turn it off not just suspend it. It is okay it is just for a minute and then you can turn it back on again. You will be going to a known non virus site and then the av can be turned back on again after the test.

Also do you use malwarebytes? It is an anti-malware software finder program I use and love. You can download it free from http://www.malwarebytes.org/. I use it along with my free av programs and have not had a problem since I started using it, I am knocking on wood here! If you use the free version you must run and update it manually but other than that it is just like the paid version. I am thinking you could have a program causing a problem with the downloads that you haven't found yet and malwarebytes will find that program. I run it about once a month but have advised others that are not as careful as I am to run it weekly! It will even fix pc's that have already been infected to the point where they won't work at all!

Other than that I am out of ideas as to what the problem could be.
