I recently attached a new core i7 machine to Rosetta and thus far I've only managed to download 1 WU, in spite of setting my preferances to 8 CPU cores. When I hit "update" in the BOINC manager the Scheduler only requests work for the GPU. Any suggestions? I'm running BOINC 6.6.36 on WinXP 64.

please let us know all of the messages that result when you update to the project. You are only reporting the last one. i.e. the result of your update request.

After a couple of hours the scheduler started to request WU's for the CPU; hopefully this means that the issue has permanently corrected itself. If the problem reoccurs I'll post again.

Happy crunching:)

It usually takes a few when getting brand new WUs in a new system. Happens pretty often when installing BOINC in a newly formatted PC (dual core+).

You are encountering a known and designed 'feature' in the 6.6.36 client. Regardless of the project, or you configuration of project use, 6.6.36 first seeks out GPU work, even if your workstation has no supported CUDA device, eventually after multiple pings of the project it may well go after CPU work units.

For me, the resolution of this was quite simple - my 6.x client of choice is 6.4.5 -- I use this on any Vista or Win 7 workstation, or any workstation with a CUDA GPU seeking CUDA workunits. On Win XP workstations with out a CUDA card, I use the 5.4.5 client.
