Yes joseps, good move. I believe I crashed a hard drive last Summer because I left it running while the room got too hot. Even if the CPU can handle it, the hard drive can't. Yes,it is. Since you recognize it, you must be going there too. It is always a breath taking panorama. I visit the tulips field every year. The various state park campgrounds in that area are also our old favourite hangouts. joseps:) I turned off my 5computers when I went on vacation. When I return today, I can not upload work. Need work units to run computers. joseps |

I have been there in the past. I left Seattle in 2001 to move to Belgium but I do miss the annual skagit valley run to see them. Haven't done an Amsterdam run for tulips yet. maybe next year. |

I can't say how long it's been, but I noticed this morning that my CPU was running at only 3% and when I checked Rosetta there were NO tasks running. I told it to update the project and it got zero new tasks. The project news feed says they took the project offline on Dec. 23rd to make modifications to the SAN - any ETA on completing that project?? --hedera Never be afraid to try something new. Remember that amateurs built the ark. Professionals built the Titanic. |

The problems aren't yours, Hedera. Many of us are surprised that such an important Project should go down because of the holidays, if that is in fact what the problem is. You can read about us arguing in the dark on thread https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/forum_thread.php?id=5200 If this is entirely a vacation phenomenon, maybe distribution of tasks will resume Jan 2? Hope springs eternal. -Neil- |

Look at the server status - the server is having problems that limit the number of workunits available to less than the number of requests for them; about half the server programs are not running. It's been a few days since either of my machines connected to Rosetta got any Rosetta workunits at all. Another thread said that past history says that you should expect similar problems during the Christmas-New Years season every year, and a fix for this one is unlikely before some time tomorrow. If you want to install a relatively permanent workaround, choose some other BOINC project still providing workunits, such as World Computing Grid and POEM@home, and activate that project but with a CPU time share of perhaps 5% of what you gave Rosetta@home. This will make it get workunits from that other project, but usually only when Rosetta@home does not have any ready. |

Either I'm lucky or else someone has been pushing buttons as 10 work units were downloaded at around midnight GMT here in the UK. |

Ready to send is over 43,000. Server still shows as being down. |

47000 and rising, 10 arrived here already. Now for the bunfight! I'm going to adjust my runtime to limit what the manager asks for until the rush has died down, like others have done. Maybe 6 hours makes more sense. Thanks to the guys coming in on a Sunday to help us out. |

Sorry, a few posts ago, on Jan 3, I wrote: ... maybe distribution of tasks will resume Jan 2? I meant Jan 4. I imagined toward the end of the day, though. Glad to hear some work units are coming back, already. Someone in California's working Sunday night. Woops, I downloaded two Tasks at 2100 EST; thanks. Now, I have to figure out how I'm going to split my CPUs between my traditional Rosetta@home and Malariacontrol.net, which I just attached to a few days ago and consider worthy, also. |

Oh the joys of acquiring more pc's, that means you are soon to become a bigger 'gardener'! After 'gardener' comes 'farmer', then comes 'rancher'! As a 'rancher' you will have more than 15 pc's on line and can choose to run lots of projects, or put lots of resources into just one project! |

Oops, looks like Rosetta is still having problems. The Server Status page says that there are now only 760 WUs ready to send, and I'm getting "No work from project" messages again. |
