And as a side note, I always pronounced "cache" sorta like "caged" rather than "cash" as in the video.

It would be nice if they put two of those in the mac pro. Then we would have 32 threads!

Soon enough ... you can already get a Mac Pro with 16 virtual CPUs ... something I can look forward too ...:)

My immediate thought was of processors using Octal rather then of the number system itself, hence octal core, and as suggested by the OP's topic name. ICL 1900 series mainframes for example, 24 bit systems.

Actually, the 1904S was not a bad piece of kit given the limited width. Knocked the spots of the comparable IBM mainframes around at the same time.
