My immediate thought was of processors using Octal rather then of the number system itself, hence octal core, and as suggested by the OP's topic name. ICL 1900 series mainframes for example, 24 bit systems. Actually, the 1904S was not a bad piece of kit given the limited width. Knocked the spots of the comparable IBM mainframes around at the same time. Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. |
