Running Latest BOINC on W7 RC. All good except that the Rosetta Beta screensaver graphics appear to be incompatible with W7 themes. Every time I move the mouse to cancel the screensaver and come back to the desktop, it knocks W7 back into the Windows 7 'Basic' theme. Rosetta Mini seems to be OK. Is there a way of disabling the downloading of tasks associated with Rosetta Beta and preventing it downloading at all? Thanks |

There is no way to disable your computers from getting beta project tasks from your preferences. The screensavers are both almost the same. I have no problem with the screensaver with beta tasks on my windows 7 rc pc. Normally the rollback to the basic theme outlines a graphics card problem. |

No, Windows 7 actually reports that the Rosetta Beta application is incompatible and warns me that it has switched to Windows 7 Basic for that reason. |

The only difference between our PC's is that you are running 32-bit windows 7 and I am running 64-bit. Where does it report this?? in the messages tab?? |

I get a small window (Action Centre I think) that pops up as soon as I return to the desktop, by which time W7 has dropped back into Windows 7 Basic. It tells me the specific application that is incompatible with the Aero theme. |

I have this problem when running some java applications. It is caused because windows 7 aero uses the 3d rendering capibility of your graphics card. When a program such as rosetta needs to render a 3d image, it uses the same capibility as areo, but the card can't run both at the same time and therefore kills windows aero. |

If you are attached to Rosetta Beta, aka RALPH, all you have to do is to detach to not get tasks from it ... Or am I misunderstanding something here? |

Your are misunderstanting. On this project, the main Rosetta@home, you are sent Rosetta Beta tasks as well as Rosetta Mini tasks. It is the beta task that are causing the issue here. |
