I noticed that non-running Rosetta-apps uses memory??

If you have the preference to leave applications in memory it will ...

They use VIRTUAL memory. And this preserves ALL of the work they've achieved (at least assuming they get to run again before you exit BOINC) rather then just up to the last checkpoint written to disk.

swap is at 0%...

only two are running. and the rest are waiting to run (for the other two to finish up).

As a side note:
I love how linux distinguishes between low priority and normal priority :)
That way CPU meters aren't a waste of resources anymore like in Windows.

I note that you are using ubuntu 9.04... Is the CPU / RAM details on your desktop an app that comes with ubuntu? or is a seperate app?

Also does it make much of a difference running linux rather than windows... (speed wise for BONIC).

It sorta comes with Ubuntu. You need to install it from the add/remove package manager.

IDK if BOINC runs faster than in Windows. Swap is never used, so Linux works the memory better.

What I do know for sure, is that it looks way better than Windows. And it's fun to customize too.
