I have a box folding for Rosetta.[ Tyan S2895] It was benching 3074 floating and 5595 integer mips. Yesterday my hard drive died, so I replaced it and reinstalled xp x64 and boinc . I also updated my bios from v1.03 to v1.06. Now the cpu benches at= 2843 floating and 6776 integer. Which benchmark is more effective in Rosetta folding? My old bios gave a higher floating mips, but my new bios gives a much higher integer mips. |

The benchmarks don't provide very much information. If you move the mouse or have any background tasks, the benchmarks will chage every time you run them. Don't be concerned about the benchmarks, just get back to folding. Every min. of CPU time helps the project. Thx! Paul |

The benchmarks don't provide very much information. If you move the mouse or have any background tasks, the benchmarks will chage every time you run them. Yes, it is true that the values differ every time you run the test, but that is not the answer to the original question: which one is more important, floating or integer mips. Does anyone know this? I also like to know the answer. Thanks. ______ DeMus |

for the boinc benchmark the scores are taken with equal weighting, but that benchmark only indirectly affects your granted credit - your claimed credit is based on it though. For running Rosetta however, I'm fairly sure the whetstone (FPU) is much more important. |
