I've joined rosetta at its website, and have received an email giving me an account id (that's how I logged on to this forum!). I've downloaded BOINC 5.2.6 and installed it on my SuSE 9.0 system. I've also exported the HTTP_PROXY value that I use for my home LAN. When I use the 'Project Attach' function of boincmanager, and enter the URL and account id from the email, it gives me the message: "Account not found. Verify your account name and password are correct and try again." The only other indication I have is that a message in red shows up in the boincmanager's messages panel: "Missing account key." What should I do now ? mikus Note: Another system on my home LAN has been running BOINC for Climateprediction for ages. So I know my home LAN does work properly with BOINC. . |

Solved. After flogging it and flogging it, I read a post in one of the forums that gave me a clue. Apparently the 5.x boinc uses a "password", whereas the 4.x boinc (as described in the wiki and elsewhere) used the account id. I had to go to the WEBPAGE, navigate &deity; knows where, and explicitly enter a "password" for my account. I then had to go to the client, and enter that same PASSWORD where I had been trying to enter the "account key". Looks like boinc 5.x authorization changes were designed to "make the user's life easier". Well, those changes managed to make my life HARDER. . |
