I've rolled out Rosetta@home via BOINC on a number of systems (23 presently). 10 have currently received at least some credit (though this seems very inconsistent in a few cases as well, but I'll get to that later) while 13 have received zero.

On all but one I'm running the same configuration setup, a la work, home, school. And I have rolled out with a few variations of install options, but this doesn't seem to reflect what I'm seing for results in a consistent manner.

For examlpe, I'm running it and wanted it to go undetected by the end users. I installed with all of the advance options unchecked. After giving it about a week to see how the systems ran like this there were a few that worked while others apparently haven't done anything except check out a work unit or few. I went back and enabled the special accounts for a few of these systems, one has done a miniscual amount of work since while others I'm still waiting to see the results.

All and all I'm just not sure where I've gone wrong, or what is the common factor here as systems with common specs are no where near other ones (as in one currently has 2,375 of claimed credit where as another has 245, and this latter system is about 600mhz faster on each of its dual cores).

Any advice is welcome as I'd like to get all systems consistently working and helping process for Rosetta@home (and I have some ten to twenty others that I plan to roll out on once I get this hammered out).

daemox, let's start at the beginning... do you know if the machines are powered on? Do you know what the messages on the machines with no credit are saying?

deamox, can you unhide your computers so we can see what tasks are being picked up and what contact there is? No-one but you can see any 'interesting' information such as IP addresses, anyone not logged in as you can only see computer IDs, spec and the results. Have a look at my computers to see what info you can see.

Regarding your problem, do you have BOINC set to do work only when the computer is not in use?
Is there enough disk space on the disk it's running from (the boinc disk space settings can be counter-intuitive)?
Is 'keep in memory when pre-empted' selected?
Is cool n quiet or speedstep enabled on them?

Could it be, that the machines are just waiting on their wingmen to get the credit granted? Probably not that long with that large farm, but without seeing the machines' tasks and knowing their settings, everyone can at most speculate...

Which options have you meant? You have possibly made the machines that stealth, that not even BOINC notices they are able to crunch?

Please check and tell about their settings of "Suspend work while computer is in use", "Suspend work if no mouse/keyboard activity in last --- minutes", "Do work only between the hours of ---", "Leave applications in memory while suspended", "Use at most xx% of CPU time", "On multiprocessors, use at most xx% of the processors / xx processors", etc.

Please take a look at any of your inactive computer's "Computer summary" page (like this P-III of mine) and tell the values of "% of time BOINC client is running", "While BOINC running, % of time work is allowed", "Average CPU efficiency" from the bottom of the page.

No sorry, not offline just working and working out the problem on my own. Seems to be that when I disabled the protected execution the user accounts I had running normally couldn't launch the process (or something of the like) I've since reinstalled using protected execution option in the installer and things seem to be progressing now.

Sorry for the waste of time, but thank you all anyway for the help.

Oh okay, good to know. Wasn't sure how cut and dry the forum areas were. Been to some that get pretty uppity about misplaced posts by new members.
