I noticed that too, 3 machines all out of work. Had to grab them tasks from other projects so they'd still be doing stuff.

looks like another glitch

all the machines are in green, but nothing queued and only 87 ready to send.
very odd....thats why i take 2 or 3 days extra.

One of mine is flat out of work. Three hours of idle time.

Shoulda checked here fisrt...lol!!! Was wondering if CPN wqas keeping Rosie from sending me work.... both of my boxes will be out of work within the day. Ok for one since I was going to exclusively run Rosie on the other... but the other... not so thrilled.

Mybe its because of all of us SETI crunchers finding our way here over the past three weeks with the server issues over there.....lol

Forgive my lack of knowledge, but is the "Target CPU Runtime" preference the option that changes how much work your client will retrieve? I just started running boinc with any sort of regularity lately. Thanks. :)

You would adjust tht setting in BOINC ubder 'Advanced' Preferences' Network Usage'... this is where you set you buffer for how many days work you would like.

Cheers mate, I don't know how I missed that option. :) I guess I just didn't think to closely examine network use for buffers, figured it was all about bandwidth and available times to access the network.

Greetings...

If you can stay connected and want a short turn around time,
you can set the "Connect about very _____ days"
and "Additional work buffer ____ days"
values to a fraction like 0.1

This allows a single work unit to be sent at a time - thus getting the shortest turnaround time..

Have a great day crunching....

Greetings - Noticed the same thing happening..
(Time is Eastern Daylight Savings Time.)

Server page (https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/rah_status.php) says 90 WU available.
I rechecked the server page 9:38 PM, and it said 29 WU available..

This is one disadvantage of setting a short work buffer....

Have a great weekend..

Hmm, no work at Boinc SIMAP right no, no work at Orbit@home and now no work at Rosetta. Not sure what I should crunch in the meantime. Maybe some Folding@home...

edit: Decided to go with World Community Grid, projects: Fight Cancer and Human Proteome phase 2.

as of 9.51 CET (GMT+2) the home page shows 0 work queued and only 1,454 units in the ready to send queue. but yet all systems are green. kind of odd.

I see 0 jobs in the queue, and have been unable to download any workunits for several hours. This looks like a good reason to avoid devoting an entire machine to the same project. You could, however, give such a small percentage of time to another project that it normally barely completes workunits from that project before the deadline, so it should normally have only one workunit from that project in progress, but still can download enough workunits from that project to keep all of its CPUs busy.

A project with rather short workunits:

malariacontrol.net

A project in a distant time zone, but still available in English:

I will soon be out of work units too.
They need to program in an alarm that sends a text message to a cellphone if the Queued workunits is under 1000 maybe so the server admin can logon and fix the problem.

You're assuming that the server admin can fix all such problems, carries a cellphone, and frequently looks at it.

I'm amazed at the reaction to Rosetta being out of work.

. . . a virtual tradition in the wider world of BOINC projects.

With Rosetta out of work, and the server problems at Seti, there are many refugees who feel lost.

. . . WCG is always an option.

I got one more Rosetta@home workunit during the night, and the home page says one more is available. So it's likely that some workunits are still being created, just too slowly to meet the demand. Looks like more people need to have more than two projects to get work from, it case the first two develop problems at the same time.
