Checking server status after getting a 'no new work' it seems in fact there is no new work available.

Is the project transitioning from one batch to another (like Einstein) or is there some other variable?

There is always lots of work.
Issues could be debt load to other projects or some other thing that is blocking your system. Be sure to check under the projects tab that the 'no new tasks' button is not engaged. If that is ok, try the reset project button and try to get new tasks. If that fails then use the detach button and then reattach to RAH.

Have you checked the server status? Work to send in single or double digits. If there was 'lots of work' we'd be talking thousands of work units to send. Something is either grabbing work very fast, or the work generation process isn't working. I've been running Rosetta for a long time -- and while I do see it as needing to be 'encouraged' to get new work sometimes with a multiproject workstation (by temporarily suspending the other projects then forcing an update to Rosetta) more than with my other projects, that approach works -- but ONLY if there is work available on the server. Are you suggesting that the server status is not accurate in this regard?

If you look at the server status on the front page it currently says "Queued: 1" so the work generator needs a gentle poke to get it going again.

OK -- well, poke it then (smile)

Thanks for the confirmation. At a guess, it might not get 'poked' until after the weekend, when a large number of users will be clamoring for work.

Right -- well for me, I have seven projects working -- and so Malaria, Spinhenge, World Grid and Climate end up getting a larger share of the CPU on my workstations.

Since I typically run 4 or 5 projects it keeps the workstation CPU happy.

I started with SETI (way back -- in the old SETI single project days), then added Einstein, then Climate and when things got thin, added World Grid, then Rosetta, then Spinhenge. I added Malaria this Spring.

These days, my work splits are running 25% Spinhenge, 20% Malaria, 20% Climate, 14% Rosetta, 10% SETI, 6% World Grid and 5% Einstein. So the lack of work on Rosetta, SETI and Einstein doesn't matter as much to me.

wonder if this has anything to do with casp 08 winding down?

doubt it..there is whole slew of u5xx tasks that are being sent out now.
i still say a reset or a detach is the only way to get rosie back in the loop again.

plus look here at the home page:

Server Status as of 2 Aug 2008 20:50:07 UTC
[ Scheduler running ] Queued: 5,994
In progress: 317,630

and look here: https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/rah_status.php

so no work? impossible...setting problems..most likely

No -- I think there are three different scenarios -- here it looks like it was more of a maintenance thing -- it is resolved now. With SETI, they have had some hardware/software problems brewing over the last two weeks -- and with the volume they support, they don't have much margin to work with. Einstein is shifting over from one batch of work units to a new one, and they seem to have crossover issues when they do that --- this has happened at least twice in the past I believe.

That may be for over there, but RAH has lots of work and it would seem for some reason he is not getting Rosie work. Reread his statement...he says he is not getting any Rosie work in addition to the other issues.

I'm getting this all morning to! is there no work for the Beta app

i was thinking that most of the tasks showing on the server might be

for the mini app! and we that run an app info file can't get much work.

That's a good point, although I did get 1 CASP8 task this morning.

That's OK Greg Be. It was Peter Leman who came up with the idea 1st. Thank's Peter. I appear to be able to get work now for both apps.
