Can we hear what someone in authority here at Rosetta aims to do about this "Space family" team and their antics please ? This temporary user name will not show up in the stats, but will still have an Account and all of its facilities and still be able to restart already stolen teams like THIS one that Barbar has recently restarted. This team had its members thrown out and nearly 2 million points stolen. Ooooo "MIZ" just left that team. I wonder why ? :-) "MIZs" ID number is 265885 here at Rosetta BTW. "Barbar" is 46396. And the stolen team ID number is 1601 |

Ooooo "MIZ" just left that team. I wonder why ? :-) According to Space Family forums (translation of MIZ post): I have just found out, that not only on Rosseta, but at least in one other project, I am in team I did not join (team „Devo“). Out of fear of further manipulation with my user accounts I leave all teams. Good move ... unfortunately for wrong reasons, it seems. Good news is that at least in one other project admins took action against SF. I wonder, what the other project is. |

It's team "Bevo" at SIMAP (team ID = 466) - and it has been returned to the righteous owner, the original members have been added back to the team, the original name has been restored. MIZ did join team 466 of course, his account has not been manipulated in any way. |

Just a couple of thoughts.
The part I've italicized is an out and out lie, since as Scribe has noted, there were still active Teddies crunchers here at the time of the theft. Secondly, it seems to me that the obvious place to fix this is home base: http://boinc.berkeley.edu Are the main Boinc development team aware that this is going on? An almost identical problem exists in online games, an area where I'm very active. You'll get guilds in these where leaders go inactive. In almost all cases, leadership will automatically transition to another member who is active. To avoid a coup of this sort in the future, the approach I'd suggest is as follows. If the leader has not submitted results for more than <insert time here>, find all members that have returned results within that time period. Then promote the member from that set with the earliest join date. By giving preference to long time members, that should do a lot to prevent someone joining and immediately taking over. |

Good stuff Ananas. Glad to hear. Now "Daniel Stach (Hadra)" and "Gabriel" have left the original stolen Teddies team and just joined the latest stolen team TEAM 1601 alongside "Barbar". They are fully aware that this is another stolen team as it is well known now, and is common knowledge on their own "Space Family" forum. "Daniel Stach (Hadra)" Has a Rosetta ID number of 132178 "Gabriel" has a number of 265543 Waiting to see what the Rosetta admins do once the weekend is over ? |

My old team with over 1 Million Seti credits is missing. I was the administrator and my son and friend were the only members. We all transfered to KWSN. If I had known I could transfer those credits to the Knights I would have. If any person feels that He/She is entitled to the credits that we spent years accumulating then they are mistaken. We did not invest our computer time to enrich a team we never heard of. I want those credits back and I want punitive action taken against those who Hijacked them. This is no different than the guy who infected strangers comps with a worm to shrub for him. I vote for capital punishment for "Space Family". |

Real name of Rosetta team 1601 is XM Satellite Radio, archive.org has a BOINCstats team list snapshot timestamped 20070203184935 |

I want punitive action taken against those who Hijacked them. I want the same and hopefully the staff here can let us know exactly what is going to be done with those responsible. |

So, I've been reading a few ideas on correcting this issue out and about (boinc_dev) some seem to be pretty good. Question.. What interim measure is being implemented Boinc Wide to stop this BS? This is some serious stuff going here and needs to be dealt with like last month. |

First of all there were some versions of the server software that did not send an email to the founder if there was a team transfer initiated if the founder had turned off emails. Second, one of the upgrades turned off all emails from the projects. A later version of the server instantiated emails for founder change requests, but even if this was installed after the founder request was made, there would not be an email made as it is only sent when the founder change request was made. Doesn't look like anyone in charge here has posted to this thread in several days. Is there an update yet on what action is going to be taken with Space Family? |

David, what about setting also the hi-jacked Czech Boinc Team a.k.a. Space Family a.k.a. (possibly) XM Satellite Radio team and (dag's?) xx team free? I've got two hits for the team with ID=1601: as you can see, mdhurst was member of the team during 06 Mar 2006 - 11 Dec 2007 and created most (nearly 100%) of its credit. According to the WaybackMachine Internet Archive, which stored e.g. the Top Teams list from 27.3.2007 and Account data for mdhurst from 10.2.2007, team "XM Satellite Radio" did have ID 1601 and "mdhurst" was its member during that period, with pretty impressive RAC 24,888.55 - you can compare following two statistics graphs: Any obvious match? ----- Participant dag (a.k.a. dgeiser back then around July 2006) was member of team with ID=2346 during 23 Mar 2006 - 18 Apr 2006 and brought there 60,711 C$T during this period. I've no idea about the foundership and former name of this team. But certainly it was not "xx". dag did not (yet) respond to my PM. I've not found any additional proofs so far. Also, please list the founders that took over and did this, just in case we decide to take some sort of action like removal, banning, etc. Hard to fulfill this, such events were stored nowhere. If you want speculations, then each time someone (with zero credit) asked for the foundership, got it, gave it to Barbar, one of { someone, Barbar } kicked off all older members and (later) renamed the team to something more convenient. The original founder of team 1601 is userid=45029 Here's the XML from 09_2007 : <team> <id>1601</id> <type>2</type> <name>XM Satellite Radio</name> <userid>45029</userid> <total_credit>1453419.973322</total_credit> <expavg_credit>28212.372774</expavg_credit> <expavg_time>1172926323.971930</expavg_time> <founder_name>Test</founder_name> <create_time>1135978302</create_time> <url>www.xmradio.com</url> <name_html><br><br><a href="http://www.xmradio.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.multi-search-engine.com/xm_logo.gif" width="200" height="90" border="1" alt="XM Satellite Radio"></a><br><br></name_html> <description>For clients and friends of America's #1 Satellite Radio Service - Over 150 Digital Channels, Featuring 100% Commercial-Free Music and the Best News, Sports, and Talk!</description> <country>United States</country> </team> The <create_time> equals : 12 / 30 / 05 @ 4:31pm and matches the founder's join date. The same founder has already been in the XML from 06/2006 The wayback machine stores some binaries too - they are usually a bit damaged (probably a CR/LF issue) but most of the .gz files has been expandable. Unfortunately the Wayback history ends there, that's the latest XML excerpt I could find. |

Thanks for the heads up everyone! I just checked and found that all but two projects of mine were set to notifications to the site only (no email). I fixed them. ----- derekm Team MacAddict |

Thanks for the heads up everyone! I just checked and found that all but two projects of mine were set to notifications to the site only (no email). I fixed them. Sometimes around half year ago EVERYONE's notification ALL AROUND the BOINC (exactly, on those projects, which updated their code since) was disabled! (Since some server version, team foundership change request is reported per email independently on the mentioned notification's setings. I've neither an idea how far apart these server versions were, nor which version was the first.) Peter |

Confirming what Ananas wrote, http://web.archive.org/web/20060616054238/https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/stats/team.gz contains file team from 17-Jun-2006 08:20, which contains: <team> ----- Participant dag (a.k.a. dgeiser back then around July 2006) was member of team with ID=2346 during 23 Mar 2006 - 18 Apr 2006 and brought there 60,711 C$T during this period. Now I do know a bit more (thanks for the idea, Ananas ;-) http://web.archive.org/web/20060616054238/https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/stats/team.gz contains file team from 17-Jun-2006 08:20, which contains: <team> http://web.archive.org/web/20070609121424/https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/stats/team.gz contains file team from 03-Mar-2007 14:53, which contains: <team> Peter |
