Everytime one of my computers runs the Minirosetta 1.28 it fails to complete, not a single one has ran successfully.
It has no problems crunching Rosetta 5.98 WU's, only the Minirosetta WU's fail

these are just a few of the failures....
Could it be PC related?

did you check your firewall settings? maybe it is getting stuck there?
are you doing a high overclocking rate?
just some ideas.

The minirosetta application has been crashing for me repeatedly over the past several weeks. Apparently both rosetta applications have been failing because none of my rosetta work units have succeeded. Below is a brief excerpt from the windows application error log:

Description:
Faulting application minirosetta_1.28_windows_intelx86.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180, fault address 0x000106c3.

I'm running Kaspersky (ver 6.0) anti-virus but have not seen it showing any activity as a result of the rosetta apps running.

My minirosetta program seems to simply crash when BOINC attempts to run it - even if it's starting to run from 0%. Already tried suspending all other projects and restarting BOINC, but the problem persists.

The result : practically no WUs being properly run on my PC.

I'm not sure whether I was able to run it normally before, but based on going through my previous results, I think I've actually never been able to run it properly. Ever. Rosetta Beta works fine though, just not Rosetta Mini. Any ideas as to why?

Here's a link to a crashed WU:

https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/result.php?resultid=175946651

Active programs that might be interfering are Spyware Doctor & Avira AntiVir Personal (Free Version). Just using the default Windows XP Firewall.

Also, if nobody can suggest a way to fix it, is there any way I can disable the client from downloading work that needs minirosetta?

you have a memory access violation or some other type of windows issue.

Check and make sure your system clock is set to the right date and time.

This workunit was probably the one where the graphics module failed to respond to resume this morning after a few hours with the computer in screensaver mode but still running with the monitor turned off.

Another workunit had the graphics part unable to recover during a wakeup from screensaver mode:

7/17/2008 12:18:50 PM|rosetta@home|Restarting task d001b_BOINC_CASP8_ABRELAX_RANGE_t465_IGNORE_THE_REST-S25-10-S3-8--d001b-_4239_256_0 using minirosetta version 128

I didn't record how much CPU time it used before going into screensaver mode, but there's a possibility that going into screensaver mode also stopped the CPU clock.

I'd consider turning off the graphics part of it, but haven't found any information on how to do that yet.

I have multiple WinXP Pro computers attached to Rosetta; three AMD-based boxes work fine (one Opteron 180, one Athlon64 3700+, one ancient AthlonXP 1700+), but my Intel-based laptop (Core2 Duo T9300) consistently fails ALL Rosetta Mini 1.28 workunits, usually after 20-35 seconds with a computation error. Occasionally, the laptop will simply hang on a RM 1.28 WU, and I'll have to abort it manually once I notice it. Once or twice I've gotten Windows error dialog boxes telling me that the RM 1.28 process terminated abnormally.

The laptop is new--I got it on July 3--but it has failed on hundreds of RM 1.28 WUs in the three weeks I've had it. As far as I know, it has not successfully processed a single RM 1.28 WU.

For dozens of examples, check my 22 Jul 2008 12:26:04 UTC and 20 JUL 2008 19:43:25 UTC report times.

The screensaver graphics part failed to shut down properly when I turned the monitor on and moved the mouse after leaving the monitor turned off several hours last night.

I'm consistently having the same problem with the minirosetta screensaver. Every time I try to resume back from the screensaver, it stops responding and I have to Ctrl-Alt-Del to recover.
