I think we have a good grip on getting it to work well. I still think we have a "pending credit" fault, but since Rosetta grants credit so quickly, It's hard to catch. What's Rosetta Pal???? you ask. It's a VBA scipt using MS Excel to collect data for HOST ID's you enter into the "configure" worksheet and run so it will get you all manner of neat info on the work you or others do. It lists "application version", "Boinc Version", Granted credit/hour, claimed credit/hour, the number of decoys done, the seconds/decoy, the claimed credit/decoy, the granted credit/decoy, the rest of the stuff on your results pages, and even extracts the wu name. All nice and handy for making charts, graphs, checking on your machine. Any, if anyone wants to help debug this early version, shoot me a PM and include an email addy, and I'll send it on over for your inspection. tony |

Use notes to save me typing them multiple times. When you unzip (the zip is 145kb in size) and first open the file, you'll get a prompt to enable macros, you need to do this. If you get a security warning, then you'll need to set your security to "medium" as this is NOT signed, and that's why the prompt comes up. After you get it open you'll see the "Welcome" worksheet, read it for more info, or go straight to the configure worksheet. There you'll see 7 listed host ID's and names for those hosts. Those happen to be my hosts plus the number one host at Rosetta. Use them as an example and delete my host ID's and names and insert your one. You also need to delete the 7 worksheets with my hosts on them. You should only have "welcome" and "configuration" worksheets left showing. If you don't put in the name for the host, the script will use the hostID number. Now that you've told it which hosts to get info on, go back to the "welcome" screen and click "run". It'll take several minutes the first time around, but will be quicker on successive runs as it's already filled in much of the info and created the worksheets. You can't rename the worksheets without causing an error, so make sure you labelled them right the first time in the configuration worksheet. Otherwise, you'll need to delete the worksheet, relabel the host in the configuration worksheet and rerun it. Hmmm,, what am I forgetting?? [edit] oh yeah, on the worksheet header CC stands for "claimed credit", GC stands for "Granted Credit". G/H means "granted/hour", C/H means Claimed/hour, CC/Decoy is "claimed credit/decoy", etc. Here's the Config screen: And here's the welcome screen: And your host worksheets will look like these two put side by side (there's to many columns of data to put on one sheet) |

Tony, please acknowledge Fred W. Always keep in mind as you run robots against the project website that you are driving a high demand on the servers (i.e. a large number of requests in a very short period of time). Please use in moderation. (...is that a pun? "moderation"?) Anyway, please be kind to the servers. Do what you can to avoid others pulling the same data you have, and never run such a thing against all users or all hosts. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

Fred W wrote the Original "Seti-pal" which this is based on, to help me collect data there. It's not very large and currently is only available via email attachment (I.E it's not hosted anywhere). I started to port it to the unique issues at Rosetta, but needed Fred W to get the stubborn stains out. I have a report of it displaying "improperly high" values when run on Excel 2007. testing continues. |
