The problem is: WHAT IS THE PROBLEM TO FIX WITH THE XML STATS GENERATION?

You might want to check the title of the thread :-). The problem with them is that they're not being generated ;-).

Yeah, But WHY?

There's a big difference between not implementing improvements and not getting things that were working fine back up and running in a timely manner.

There's also a BIG difference between a lab for of biochemists and an IT guy or two and a dedicated IT team to do the upgrades and PLAN the upgrades and all associated "secondary" jobs that go to make the system work "perfectly". These guys are only human, give them a break.

There is also a Big difference between people who get paid to do a job and volunteers who GIVE their computer time FREE of charge to HELP with biochemical projects... Give US a break too. We just want to be kept up to speed with what's going on, that's all. Everyone bickering while bakerlab SHOULD inform it's FREE outsources when things go pear-shaped.

Sorry for these recent issues. We had to upgrade the OS on our servers last week in order to support the latest boinc server release which required us to rebuild the boinc daemons. We accidentally forgot to rebuild the status dumping daemon. There were also some php issues. I think we've taken care of these issues now. As an early warning, we plan to upgrade the boinc server this week so some other issues may pop up. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks Marky, for your quick response.

Thanks David for explaining the problems you had to deal with.
Good luck on the next job!

Say what your want, but over the lifetime of this project so far, people associated with Rosetta seem to me to be a pretty responsive group. There have certainly been times where communication has been an issue, but then things get rolling well again. I'm sure this has to do with staff levels, vacations, teaching, paper writing, conferences, and just generally having a life other than what goes on here.

Here here ! Well said.
The statswhores need to get a bit of perspective. We'd have got an answer from the guys in the end like we always do.

I think you misunderstood. I was making the point that this thread was about the XML stats, not about some enhancements that didn't get done. The idea was to try and keep this thread from moving from a problem report to some guy's crusade to get new features implemented or a general gripe session about how neglected some people feel.

And to whoever did it, great job on getting the stats working again!

I'm no statswhore--I joined for the science. However, when we recently started getting repeated errors on WUs that were reported but not responded to, there were site update problems, and then the stats/homepage weren't working I started wondering if I was contributing my time and money (electricity isn't free) to the right effort... problems don't foster credibility.

I understand, I think, that Trey is just trying to vent his frustration. I agree with Xaak that this might not be the correct thread to vent an overall lack of confidence type of thing. Maybe you should start a "lack of confidence" thread?

It does not matter what thread. I have brought up this issue in the café, the science and the crunching boards. The science is my favorite part but nothing is current except for the journals.

This is it I am out. I have suspended Rosetta and moved on to FAH.

Sounds like the same song I've been singing...

Not "out" (yet), but Simap has been getting a lot of time (90%) on my quadcore that used to be devoted to Rosie.

And a new quadcore when the q9450 comes out, also likely not to be heavily Rosie...

It's funny to me what people get angry about. With all the wrong things that happen in my community, my state and my country, how people can get so upset when their needs are not met by a hobby is mind bending to me.

Take a deep breath. Have a good beer.

I mean it's not like Rosetta has turned into Predictor! :)

Well done Baker chaps!! I usually post all my positive comments in the 'ShoutBox' on BOINCstats, as the forum environment I find somewhat, what's the word I'm looking for, pompous, like making comments similar to yours.
