In the preferences of BOINC 5.10.20 in:

Advanced>Preferences>Network Usage

There is an optino for "Confirm before connecting to internet"

What does it mean/do? There is nothing in the help about it.

Does it mean it will prompt me, the human, to let it connect to report/download more work?

Thanks.

As far as i know it's if you use dailup Boinc will put up a popup to

tell you when it needs to make a connection to the internet.

ya that's it. If you have an internet connection all the time, it's not an issue to you. But if your computer is in your bedroom and uses a dial-up modem for internet access... you might want it to prompt you before you are rudely awakened at 3AM by it automatically dialing out to establish the connection. So the added a configuration setting to allow you to control it.

It actually is for any connection that goes into the connection that needs to be dialed. Many 'bradband always on' actually need to be dialed also VPN etc..
Just set it and try it out, but you select one of the connections for it to dial in BoincManager -> Advanced -> Options -> Connections.
