One of my hosts stopped getting credits and when i decided to understand i found out that a new "ghost" host was created in my computer list and was taking all the credit. I tried to merge them but the result was not right. Now i still have 2 hosts where it should be only one and the old one apparently quitted rosetta for some reason i don´t know. I just want it all to go back to the old computer. What do i have to do in order to accomplish my goal?

Thanks!

whell the new pc keeps getting the credit, and the credit that you allready made, should keep standing at the old host. well no big problem, just a little glitch.

Have you tried to merge the two hosts?

Sometimes BOINC starts a new host ID when you install a new version of BOINC, or detach and reattach the project.

As Luuklag explained, all the credits accumulate by your user ID, so no problem there. Just a nuisance to have two hosts showing when you only have one computer. The idle host ID will fall off the list once it has been idle for... I think it is 60 days.

Ok, but is there someone who i could ask for a merge of the new host with the old one, terminating the new one? The only problem is that I´ll have a incorrect number of host, witch I don´t want.

I think that maybe i´ve merged them in the worng direction, resulting in the elimination of the old Host. Should I try to re-attach to rosetta with the old host and than merge in the right direction? Or this will result in more mess?

No.

I have probably dozens of machines, including some prestigious low number machines which are exactly the same now as they were then, but merging always favours the later host number, if it works.

But there should be someone whom we could talk to... Someone working in Rosetta that could do this for us. I´m saying this because when i had a similar problem with Seti there was a guy that solved it for me.

The Project Team are the only ones with access to the project database. I would prefer the Project Team invested their time in resolving the problems that are causing tasks to fail, and in getting the updated server code deployed. Then you should be able to merge them yourself if you cannot do so already.

The idle host will drop from your host list once it hasn't reported any work for 60 days.

And no, you cannot merge backwards in time. Your "new" host knows it's host ID, and that host ID will never revert back to the old one in your list. What you want to do is merge the old host into the new one, and you can do this in most cases from the website as I described previously.
