Merging computers

But in my account I can see 5 hosts. This is because one of my computers is replicated 3 times. I tried to merge these hosts together with the Web interface, but it doesn't let me do it. What you can do (I did this) is wait for the results to be processed (a month or two). The number of results for each hostID will goto zero. Then you can just delete the host. I just successfully merged 2 computers this morning.. Seems the merge function isn't totally broken. You can avoid this, when you install BOINC on a different partition from where your OS is placed, and in case you reinstall your OS, just start the old BOINC install. The current version of the server software is smarter, and will allow merging when things have changed due to things like OS upgrades, or BOINC versions changing (causing the CPU descriptions change). The developer uses SETI as the test project, so they always have the latest. However, the version needed is not that new. Many other projects already have it implemented. They say I was successful in merging hosts in SETI because in that project are used the very latest versino of BOINC server software, and they have on their todo list to upgrade the Rosetta BOINC server software :) good work, admins! But on the plus side, you'll be able to compare statistics between the OS version on the same machine. Then, you'll see if 64-bit is helping your machine be faster or not.... The system had accumulated over 200,000 points. Rosetta detected my OS as: Operating System Microsoft Windows 2003 Professional Edition, Service Pack 2, (05.02.3790.00) Then I upgraded Rosetta to version 5.10.20 and Rosetta detected my OS as: Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition , Service Pack 2, (05.02.3790.00) The Strange thing is that it also assigned my system a new Computer ID (633655). So I thought, No problem... I should be able to merge them because they are exactly the same system (no OS changes or any modification)... but merge does not see the other host. It bugs me because I'm having a race with a friend using Rosetta points as the gauge and I have to add the two hosts... (try explaining that to your racing partner) heh.
