I would like to set up my BOINC client so that it always has, say, 10 work units on standby ready to be processed. How do I set it up? Can someone give me step-by-step instructions? I am on Windows XP and BOINC 5.8.16. On a side note, I basically never want to be out of work units...so as a possible side effect, no, I do not want to have 10 units and require them all to be processed before BOINC will upload the results and request more. Ideally what would be nice is to always have 10 unprocessed units, and every time 1 of them is done processing, BOINC uploads the result and grabs another unit...not waiting for all 10 to be completed. Does that make sense? Thanks! |

Update to the latest version of BOINC 5.10.20 I think Go to Advanced -> Preferences in the Advanced GUI (one with the charts, tabs and lists etc..) Set connect every to 0 (zero) or 0.1 then the additional days to 10. Save and job should be done. Mine works... or seems to ;-)... as you want. Team mauisun.org |

Since you have mutltiple pc's running RAH you could do it by going to 'Your Account' then edit 'General Preterences' for 'Connect to network about every' this the extra wu's you want always on hand. This is what RAH calls a work cache. You could add a 1 day to what is there. (probabley 1 day) This is not as accurate as using the new bionic mgr. but I believe easier. Jmarks |

Update to the latest version of BOINC Just to add, that assumes your 'run length' is set to 24hrs, that setting has to be done online and in the Rosetta@home preferences part But I would recommend NOT to use 10 days worth of cache and select 7 or less, since 10 days would be too long for the deadlines if it grabs tham all at the start. But you can always delete a few and have a play and see what works for you. Team mauisun.org |
