Running just now two WUs with comment ''High Priority''. What is special about these? What's the deadline like compared to others you ran? Coelum Non Animum Mutant, Qui Trans Mare Currunt |

I believe that may just be a note for the Project Team to get this tasks on the queue before some of the others they have coming. This priority to help Rhiju's CAPRI predictions. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

If you're seeing this in the manager, and it's BOINC 5.10.20, this indicates a result that is in deadline trouble. - Manager: if a job is running EDF, show "high priority" in status (added in 5.10.14) Kathryn :o) The BOINC FAQ Service The Unofficial BOINC Wiki The Trac System More BOINC information than you can shake a stick of RAM at. |

To Kathryn - don't think your reason is correct as deadline for WUs running is Sept 20. I have a five day workload so there is more than enough time, especially as so many WUs do not run to full time. For deadline of Sept 20 have 16 WUs still to run for 6 hrs.(AMD 4800 dual core).Am using 5.10.20!! PS. Got some more 'high priority'running now. |

Are you running this on XP or Vista? For some reason my Vista 5.10.20 client always has WUs listed as high-priority and the strange thing is that it takes turn working on all of them. So it will work on one for a while, then switch to another for a while, then switch to the next, not finishing one of before going to the next. |

On XP HOME here. Hopes that ModSense's idea is right, as working through a lot of 'Capri' WUs, they all seem to be high priority now. |

What's the resource share for Rosetta? How long does BOINC think the work will take? I don't know of a way of the projects to give priority to their units (other than setting short deadlines). And I don't know of any way for a project to pass a message like that back to the manager. So I stand by my theory. To Kathryn - All Rosetta here 100%. 6 hour runtime,5 day workload. Message is in BOINC Manager. All the 'High Priority' WUs are Capri.....(see ModSense answer to my query). Still got some Capri WUs waiting to run. Seems that the message appears as soon as the WU starts to run. Downloaded during the night some non- Capri WUs (Capri not in the WU title) so will be watching to see what happens to those but it will be some time tomorrow. Is there a way I can copy whole message from BOINC Manager so you can see a running Capri WU? |

My theory was based on the thought that you might have seen this "high priority" in the text portion of the Rosetta Graphic. Kathryn is much more "up" on what's new with BOINC. You can use the Windows alt-print screen to capture a screen. Then go in to the Paint application and do a Paste. Then save it as a JPEG, upload it to your favorit photo sharing site of your choice and post a link in your next message in this thread. (more details in Q&A) Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

"High Priority" is a BOINC thing; I've noticed that it's what the latest versions of BOINC will display when it's running a WU in panic mode (i.e. it doesn't think it can make the deadline). It's a lot more efficient than the old "earliest-deadline-first mode" in the sense that it only runs the WU's in danger of not making it in panic mode, not all WU's. Actually, this new version of panic mode has been around since 5.8, but it was always taken care of silently; now, in 5.10.20, it will actually say "Running, High Priority" when a task is in danger of not making the deadline. |

Thinks that 'High priority' is a Capri thingy. Absolutely no danger of not meeting the deadline for current Capri WUs running and waiting to run, the deadline for Capri WUs is Sept 20 and only a few WUs left to run (will finish Capri WUs later today), unless Rosie has another wobbly. For the last few days have only been running Capri WUs and they all seem to be labelled 'High Priority' only as soon as each Wu runs. |
