Are there any settings I can do that would help the R@H servers to work more efficiently?
Ex. Chang my download settings or the size of wu’s that could help the project? I have 50/10 MGB internet service with no volume limits. My RAC are usually around 830 but
I really do not care if my points go down as long as I can help the project.
When I joined I used the generic settings and since then I have only changed 2 things.
1) Keep in memory
2) Keep 2 day of wu's on my PC.

To reduce server trafic you could try a higher run time setting "Target CPU run time" in "Rosetta@home preferences". Up to 24 H is availabel.
Warning do not increase it to 24 H in one step !!!

The only other main things would be:

increase resource share to Rosetta
keep machine on and running BOINC
and increase your target runtime (this is a Rosetta setting)

The last won't really help you crunch any more models, but it will allow you to do all of your crunching in less tasks. Thus less interaction with the Rosetta servers, leaving them free to service other users, or to dig out from downtime.

Thanks Anders n. I will start moving my "Target CPU run time" up today. As for the other settings from our Mod they are already that way so I will leave those alone.
Thanks again.

Given an always-on, dedicated Rosetta cruncher, is there any reason not to walk the the Connect to Network time out to 3 or 4 days?

I was working through a reasonable fraction of the outage on my 24hrs x 2 days machines ... I was thinking about upping the queue even further.

I have seen that is fine. It is only bad if it ineterferes with the 10 day due dates.

Personally/morally, I think the larger your cache (extra WUs download to process in the future), the larger your RESPONSIBILITY to actually complete and upload before the deadline.

I have no bias for or against any project THAT I'M ATTACHED TO.
But I am concerned that one of my machines might hiccup or crash, especially when I am gone for days at a time. Or when the machine is in another city.

So for me, I'm most comfortable only downloading WUs that I'm going to work on NOW, finish them, then get more WUs. Even if that means other projects get more CPU cycles.

I always strongly recommend to folks to attach to at least 2 projects. Can make the share resources extremely unequal (100,1). Such that the second project will mostly not do anything unless you run out of work or the primary project hiccups (like R@H did recently) or runs out of work (like Predictor@Home has done).

Since making the change I am recieving larger wu's but it looks like my pc is not doing any of the older wu's from 9th. Is this possible and if so is it going to affect Rosetta if their due dates are reached.

It should do them as BOINC should see them as priority and try to complete them in time.
If they have not started before the deadline then by all means delete them as you results will be discarded when they are sent back.

To set up your cache of tasks I would use advanced preferences found int he advanced GUI (Advanced Menu -> Preferences) you gain more control this way.

Go to the Network usage tab (assuming 5.10.x version of BOINC) and I would actually set connect time to 0 (zero) or 0.1 and then set Additional days of work to something like 2 (two) to give you a buffer. This works very well.

Other than that the default and you alterations should be fine. Keep it crunching and spread the word :D
While your there though set the memory usage to 100% when not in use and whatever you feel like for in use. If dedicated, then 100% .
