I have always wonderd how it does this. Does it see more then one core and just automattically download more work? Or do you have to tell it how to do it?? Anyone with multi-core CPUs please clue me in on how this works :) |

Anyone with multi-core CPUs please clue me in on how this works :) All you have to do is - In General Preferences - Processor Usage - On multi processors, use at most...... [insert the number of cores you want to use] and Rosie does the rest so you can sit back and relax. You will see 2 or 4 etc Wus running according to the number of cores you have. Ps- i just updated from AMD 3200+[single core] to AMD 4800+[2 cores] on June 14th. |

I dont think I can get a MC CPU for my current mobo (Asus K8V). Dont really want to mess with it either, since I have already installed my XP the max times I can, dont want to have to do that again. |

I have dual Xeons, each of which is hyperthreaded. But at the application level, that would be no different than a single 4-core CPU that is not hyperthreaded. By the way, I do not believe that you need to reinstall XP to go from one CPU to up to 4 CPUs. I think that the reinstall and/or added license is only necessary if you go above some preset limit (either 4, 8, or 16 CPUs; does anybody know for sure?). == Bill |

I think you dont need to reinstall XP in any case. Just swap the CPU and it should show 2 cores. As for licence, I think that in case of XP home you can't use more than 1 physical processor, but you can use single processor with as many cores you wish (2,4,8(with HT)) |
