Hi,

My company has a policy that executables shouldnt be downloaded. I am unable to support you as the work units are not getting downloaded. Is there any other way for me to get the work units zipped?? Temporarily can you remove the .exe extension while sending the file??

Regards,
Kiran

i'd mirror them on website but i'm having problems accessing it from any computer behind my router - very strange! (tracert is failing too...)

Anyway, assuming you're happy that it's ok with whoever's in charge of IT there for your own sake, you can mail me and i'll mail the file back as a temporary measure. If you want me to mail it to ya, mail me at rosiefiles (@) extremedc (dot) net.

Rosetta and Seti WUs don't have exe after them as extensions, The only exe files are files You install from what You bring from home. If You are able to install Boinc and Rosetta and/or Seti then You have a different problem I'd think. Maybe Rosetta/Seti could, But It would be easier to bring in an Optimized app for Seti.

I've created a Yahoo EMail account which anyone may use. I've EMailed the two Windows executables to it as attachments with a .bin extension.

rosetta.binaries at yahoo.com
the password is case sensitive and is: BestBOINCProject

You can open this EMail account here:
https://login.yahoo.com/config/login_verify2?&.src=ym
you just specify the rosetta.binaries part for the Yahoo! ID. So anyone can sign on to this EMail account, open the EMail, download the attachments.

When a new Rosetta release comes out, anyone can download it, rename it, and attach to an EMail to that EMail address.

You can download the executables directly from here: https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/download.

Hope this helps.

If his company has a policy against running unauthorised executables, then surely he shouldn't be running Boinc there without getting permission for it first?

Hi

As of now I have unisntalled BOINC from my office system.

I have requested my company for permission to run the software on my office system.

I am currently running the same at home. HTH

Whilst getting permission is obviously the right thing to do, it is also worth commenting that many firms firewalls are set to block .exe files as a matter of course because the system administrators do not have the time to add the necessary customisation to the firewall settings. It is not a ban on unknown .exe's per se, more a convenience for avoiding a major class of security problems.

When a new Rosetta release comes out, anyone can download it, rename it, and attach to an EMail to that EMail address.

You can download the executables directly from here: https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/download.

Hope this helps.

I noticed that the old 5.64 binaries are still on the rosetta.binaries at yahoo.com email account, so I used that email address to email itself with the renamed copy of the 5.68 Windows/x86 Rosetta executable, culled from my BOINC directory. I put the version number in the subject line, so hopefully people will download it instead of the old version accidentally. Would it be better entirely to delete the email with the old 5.64 version in it, to avoid confusion? I figured it would be best to ask first, rather than just going ahead and deleting it.

Okay, sounds good. I'm thinking that there should be a requirement that when someone sends the binaries to the email account, to please include the version number in the subject line--so that you don't accidentally get the wrong one if you're going back for an old version, or in case somebody forgot to move an old version to the archives folder.
