I get a message that my PC has reached it's daily quota of 100 work units, apparently because I deleted a lot of them during the problems that were recently experienced. assuming that there was a problem with the work units that were downloaded. I know my PC hasn't processed 100 work units today. Who can I contact to get whatever has to be reset so that I can download more work units? |

Each time you abort a WU your daily quota is reduced by one. After you abort 50 your quota will be 50 and so you can't download any more today. You will be able to download more work tomorrow. Once you upload a successful WU your quota will be restored. |

Oh nevermind. What's the point? |

Who can I contact to get whatever has to be reset so that I can download more work units? Noone needs to be contacted. BOINC will address the situation by limiting the number of tasks you download until your machine reports successful completion of work. Once you hit the limit, you are granted one task. If that one goes OK then your daily limit is doubled each time a good result is returned. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

Who can I contact to get whatever has to be reset so that I can download more work units? But this guy doesn't have a good track record for leaving BOINC alone, though, does he? 8) |

Who can I contact to get whatever has to be reset so that I can download more work units? I disagree as I have the same problem due to resetting Rosetta thinking it was on my end. I have to be honest and say Rosetta has far more problems on non- windows platforms than any other project I run (dont run Seti cause not real science but another discussion). I have a fast Mac Pro only crunching Einstein right now and I just might leave it that way. I would have quit this project long ago if it was not for the excellent science and Dr. Baker. Maybe coming in tomorrow and seeing their TerraFLOPs cut in half will make them realize they have some real problems to address. |

[quote]Who can I contact to get whatever has to be reset so that I can download more work units? As MS said, you don't need to do anything (and that's definitely the easiest and safest option - BOINC will sort itself out given time), but if you need the cache building up again quickly for some reason, or your comp is sat idle then you can do the following: 1. Close BOINC 2. Open the file "client_state.xml" with a text editor 3. Search for the term "duration_correction_factor" under the Rosetta project (attention if you are attached to seferal projects there are different duration_correction_factors for each project. 4. Change the value to "1", save the file and restart BOINC Maybe coming in tomorrow and seeing their TerraFLOPs cut in half will make them realize they have some real problems to address. I'm sure they don't need any such incentives to improve the stability of the project- and there are always bound to be some problems... Maybe some selected machines should be set up to receive some of each type of job first. I'd be happy to put a couple of mine forward for that. I know Ralph is for the alpha-test, but I don't think every type of job is trialled there (or are they?)... |
