hey guys. at first: sorry for my bad english ^^ so: well, me and a friend are computing for rosetta. we ve noticed that he becomes more credits than me. We both asked why, because i ve a much better Computer than he has and also, i computing faster and more protein faltings. what could be my problem, or how works the credit algorithm? |

There are many many factors. First, we assume that Rosetta is the only project that the two of you are crunching on. Next we must assume that your machines are on and running Rosetta for a similar number of hours per day. And then we must assume that the General Preferences for both of you allow BOINC to use 100% of the CPU time, and all available CPUs. Since your machine has 2 CPUs, you should set BOINC to "use at most" 2 (or more) CPUs. If all of the above is true, then I note that you just joined the project less then a week ago, and that doesn't leave much time for things to average out. You may have compelted work on your machine that hasn't been reported yet and so hasn't been added to your total yet. Also, there are the memory requirements. Different work units require different amounts of memory to run. And BOINC also allows you to configure the amount of memory it is allowed to use. Perhaps you have tasks in your task list that are "waiting for memory" for their status? This might mean that your friend is configured to allow BOINC to use more of the memory of the machine. If your machine is running other work, this will cut in to the CPU time devoted to Rosetta. Perhaps you have some background tasks that are taking CPU time away from Rosetta?
