don't enter anything to either that box or password and hit enter.

Unless you set up an guirpc network between hosts, the name is "empty box","localhost", and/or "127.0.0.1" and the password is blank

Why would you be needing to do "select computer"? Are you getting a 'can't connect" message?

I see you're using 5.2.13, that version of Boinc uses port 1043 for comms between Boinc.exe and Boincmgr.exe.

Sorry, we cross posted. Have you tried a restart of your computer?

boinc manager is not corrently connected to a boinc client. please use the
"file/select computer.." menu option to connect up to a boinc client. to connect up your local computer please use "localhost" and the host name

Are you saying you reinstalled Boinc? Did you use the same version or download a new one?

Have you tried a restart?

If it was a new version, did your firewall software prompt you to allow boinc access to the web? It should have asked for permission for Boincmgr.exe, then Boinc.exe, then Boincscr.exe.

What probably happened was:

The new versions need port 31416 and something already had that. When you restarted, boinc got it, and the other program grabbed a different port. This is why I asked about the restart.

good luck and thanks for contributing

tony
