few minuts ago i saw a article om Roseeta!home on Yahoo.com News and i thought it was a great idea so i downloaded it but i new had a few questions

can you run more than one project? i have SETI@home and Rosetta@home but i wonder if they overlap while in screenmode

By the way, can someone help me get started because i not 100% sure if i did it right or if i have the right settings

...to get started, don't change any settings.

Yes, BOINC is designed to allow you to attach to many projects. You PC will rotate between projects for you, giving time to each according to your resource share.

If you've not seen it, here are the Rosetta FAQs.

You've shown your PC information, so I can see you've downloaded one work unit (WU) already for your single CPU computer. This is a great sign that you've done everything you need to do. Your computer will crunch it, and then report back the results.

Be sure to post any further questions. Perhaps the Crunching forum would be a better place. The Q&A boards really aren't used much anymore. So, most "how to" stuff should really go in Crunching.

Welcome to Rosetta! I hope you will agree that trying to answer the question "can we find a cure?" is MUCH more worthwhile than trying to answer the question "are we alone?". And... when you're ready (to learn how to do it :) you'll give Rosetta a greater resource share than your other projects.

One other comment is worth adding, and in fact feet1st has said this elsewhere.

BOINC does a good job of allocating your selected resource share properly, but it takes a while to "learn" your system. So it may well make a few mistakes early on. Just bear with it, and within a month or two it'll be running as smooth as silk, correctly selecting which workunits need to be run.

What this means is that the first couple of weeks may seem a bit rough. But it'll sort itself out. It really will.
