With 2 GB, your machine does not have enough memory to be sent any of the current batch of work units, which are marked as requiring up to 6.6 GB (even if in practice they need much less). Until Rosetta has some smaller work units again, you might want to consider a different project. |

Yeah I see that there are zero work units ready to go. I have not gotten any work units for over a week now. Any idea when this might be fixed? Wayno |

For the short term this project http://gene.disi.unitn.it/test/ still seems to be sending out tasks based on Science also. As you can tell by the word "test" in the name it can't handle a ton of pc's etc but for the short term it's an idea instead of leaving your pc idling. |

I think it was a mistake to make it impossible for us to participate. I have been doing this for years and now I can't - not happy about it as I believe in what you are doing. Upsetting that I will no longer be able to participate. but there are lots of projects I will be able to spend my computer time on. Best of luck. |

Give it time and they will fix it, it's a simple setting to change but with 30k tasks it means aborting everything, changing the setting and then reissuing them...sound really simple doesn't it? It is UNTIL you add in the fact that every task from Rosetta is made offsite by a 3rd party vendor, meaning THEY have to do the changes not Rosetta itself and that means a delay. New tasks could be here later today, tomorrow, next week or even the week after, but they WILL be here at some point. |

New tasks could be here later today, tomorrow, next week or even the week after, but they WILL be here at some point. And so far all of the new Tasks have been mis-configured as well. The issue began on the 30th of March, and it was clearly an issue by the the 1st of April- and if the project Admins were monitoring things they could have seen what was going on & informed the researcher of the problem with their Work Units. The researcher could have re-set the configuration & re-issued the Work Units, the Rosetta admins could have cancelled all the erroneously configured Tasks and the re-issued ones then released for processing. You'd think that the loss of more than 1/3 of the total computing resources for the project would have been noticed & addressed, but it would appear that it's not a problem, and so nothing has been done to address it. Still no new work more than a year later. It kinda pisses me off. I started with Seti at home in the 90's. Sad the researchers feel it is ok to discard people who want to help. I am having the same issue with World Community Grid as well now. I have tried other projects and will continue to look online for some. Hope these people end up having to pay for their computer time since they will not take free time that is offered. |

Still no new work more than a year later. There has been work continuously available over the last 12months, however it requires VirtualBox in order to process it. The older Rosetta 4.20 Tasks are have also been available for the last 12 months, and continue to be available- however there are generally not many released with each batch, and those releases are very sporadic. I don't think I've gotten a new task in over a month and I'm on version 7.20.2 with virtualbox installed as well. Project status page says there's 5K tasks to send out but I'm not getting any of them. Just stopped for some reason. EDIT: It was this post that helped me where I needed to allow virtualbox tasks. https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/forum_thread.php?id=15036&postid=106661 |

Are there any diagnostic commands I can run on my laptop to find out why I'm not getting tasks. The event log just says "no tasks sent". I'm sitting on my laptop with 128G of RAM and plenty of available cycles to share. Otherwise, Einstein, WCG, and SIDock are getting all of them. |

There are the occasional resends, and even more occasional batches of Rosetta 4.20 work, but it's just a matter of very lucky timing to request work at the very moment they are released, as it doesn't take long for them to be allocated to other systems. If more Python Tasks are released, and you're still not getting any work, then you would need to check out your system details and click on Allow if it is there for Virtualbox work. But until then, i wouldn't bother. Rosetta is dead. Grant Darwin NT |
