No, if you don't have Vbox installed, you don't get Vbox tasks. I know because that's what happens on devices where I have not installed Virtualbox.
Also, if VirtualBox isn't installed, the skip/allow option is not available at the details page.

In order to free up workspace, I aborted the two Python tasks that were taking so long. Then I uninstalled Virtual Box.

Subsequently, I received four R@H 4.20 tasks, two of which are completed already.

So while I was perplexed, all I had to do was ditch VBox and the problem was solved.

Not true.
It just happened that around the same time they loaded a large batch of Rosetta 4.20 Tasks.

I have 1 python and 1 4.2 running now.
I have a restriction on the the number of tasks run by RAH because 3 pythons at once kills all the other tasks from other projects.

Since the new 4.2 stuff came out I don't get python anymore.

I am getting both. It is just whatever they want to send out.
I would prefer only pythons. It is annoying that Big Brother decides what I need.

I know that Jim. I hammered DEK (admin) via PM about that awhile back.
As usual, deafening silence from that side.
But then you know how difficult it is for them to make ANY changes.
Look how long it took to get that dang "button" and they don't make any mention of it on the main page.

Yes, that is very helpful to a lot of people. Or it would be, if they knew about it.

Spam. Best to ignore it.

I've been reporting the spam posts as i come across them, but are yet to have any of them removed & the spammer's account blocked. Other than the extremely occasional batch of Rosetta 4.20 Tasks, and Python Tasks only a few hundred systems can process, i think this place is just going to become a spammer dumping ground. It's certainly heading that way.

I was having problems with too many of the vbox jobs trying to run at once, leaving not enough resources resulting in Rosetta and other project tasks not being able to run, resulting in lower overall performance. In my case, lowering Rosetta's resource from 200 (out of 500 - 40% share) to 100 (out of 400 - 25% share) is giving me 10-15% more work completed across all projects, haven't had any vbox jobs that had to be aborted since then.

BOINC is allowed 11/12 cores, 75% of 32GB RAM. Other projects are WCG and Yoyo.

Bring your questions and comments over to the number crunching section.
That's where we read and talk about stuff like this.

Where do you get that from? Almost everyone is capable of vbox if they try.

If it's the Q9650 that's in your computer list then they do support VT-x according to this:
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/35428/intel-core2-quad-processor-q9650-12m-cache-3-00-ghz-1333-mhz-fsb/specifications.html

Your machines would still need to not run BOINC as a service (which is very annoying for me) and have VirtualBox installed though.

I have a Q8300 which doesn't support VT-x but some other versions of that chip do. I've got a replacement on the way but it might take a while...

Sure they are.
You just need to enable virtualization. Intel® Virtualization Technology (VT-x)
The tasks use 2078 MB which means you can run 3 Python per computer and have a touch of memory left over in your current configuration.
