Message 111900 - Posted: 11 Jan 2025, 5:25:03 UTC - in response to Message 111888.

Hi,
I think the whole Boinc system is down and has been so since 2024/12/07. I am running projects Rosetta, SiDock and worldCommunityGrid and all three of them can not get any workunits, so it does not look good. The original notice in December 2024 said that World Community Grid will be back by 2025/01/07, but alas nothing happened yet.

Does anyone else know what is happening?

Regards
Frik Brits

Ummm what about Einstein, Prime Grid, GPUGrid, SRBase, GooofyxGrid, wuprop, ODLK2025, Yafu, Yoyo and over half a dozen other Boinc Projects? They are ALL up and running and most have been for YEARS!!

I received some work units from Rosetta today, unfortunately on a system that was new to the project. It's stuck unable to work the units because it can't download the Linux application and associated files. Not an issue of course, WCG is back online with some work as are many others. Just wanted to ask if that was a known thing or if there's some way I can prod the client (beyond Resetting the project) or manually grab the needed binaries.

Over in the Number crunching area there was quite a discussion about this. Someone, not me, figured out that if you include the line:
128.95.160.156 boinc-files.bakerlab.org
In your UNIX style /etc/hosts file, dunno what it's called in other OS's since I've been a linux guy for the last 30 years, things start working better.

This works for my hosts too, didn't get anything downloaded until I modified hosts -file

In windows, file is located at:
C:/Windows/System32/drivers/etc/

EDIT: Those should be backslash but can't post them in these forums

Just tried this fix and it worked for me on Ubuntu. Thank you!
