It would be nice if someone in the project would give some time to bring the FAQs up to date as they do not appear to have been updated since May 2006! This is currently quite relevant as users who have been struggling with all the outstanding issues, like me, have nowhere to go to find out if the problems they are experiencing are being caused by their own settings etc. Look forward to the documentation being refreshed, jrp2706 |

Rosetta has NEVER been what one would call 'media friendly', in fact it's as if they have no freakin clue! Rosetta believes that only about 5%, or less, of crunchers visit the forums, AND that only those with problems visit the forums! Therefore WE are the problem and the vast majority of crunchers think everything is just fine, so no changes are necessary! There ARE a couple of 'moderators' here, unpaid and volunteer, that catch a LOT of flack and yet have extremely little to NO power to make any changes, nor do they have the ability to attend any meetings where those changes could be addressed! There is a problem with one type of unit lately, the "cryo" ones, they seem to fail on most computers, yet the ONLY option a 'moderator' had was to EMAIL someone about the problem!! Emailing a Doctor is often like emailing a freakin black hole, it OFTEN gets overlooked and you have no clue if they even saw it, let alone did anything about it! |

It's the beta project of Rosetta and the forums are crucial for feedbacks. The last post of an admin was 380 days ago... |

...trying to keep this thread on a positive note... what content do you feel the FAQs are lacking? I mean the more recent messages on the message boards are typically the timely topics. And the existing FAQs do a reasonable job of describing how things work, recommended settings, and topics to consider as you decide on settings. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

Well, I heard that a follow-on to Windows XP came out. Perhaps the Recommended System Requirements could get a refresh. (Recommended requirements? Is that vague enough?) IIRC, there was also a BOINC update in the last decade. |

These values should be enough except RAM. 1 Gb RAM is minimim for old one core/one thread comps only. Real RAM requirements is 0.5 Gb of RAM + 0.5Gb Х number of CPU treads as a very minimum. (1.5 Gb for 2 cores CPUs like celeron/pentium/athlon, 2.5 Gb for i3/i5/Phenom x4/FX-4ххх and so on) And 1 GB of RAM per CPU thread as recomended value (if the owner wants to use computer for something other than the calculations of R@H exclusively ) If computer dedicated for R@H 0.5 Gb/tread may be suitable. |
