According to the web site I have 3 WUs in progress due on 7th July - here is the list: https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/results.php?hostid=1056676 The Task Numbers are: 261812876 261812710 261812707 Trouble is I can't seem to find any trace of them in the logs (in particular: stdoutdae.txt) or client_state.xml. What is certain is that they are not In Progress on Computer ID 1056676 - Might be a good idea to re-send them to anyone if that's possibile.... or wait for them to fall through the due date. Main reason to report is that I can find no trace of even having received the files or WU on this host/client... so it could be a server problem. Regards, Richard |

The BOINC system has many checks and balances. One, as you point out, is that once your tasks pass their deadlines, they will automatically be reissued. Unfortunately, one area where BOINC does not check thoroughly is the scheduler reply. The servers send the reply to a request for work and do not double check that you receive it, in full. Sometimes the internet connection is interrupted and the client issues an error indicating there was no end tag found in the scheduler reply. The projects could enable a BOINC feature to double check all of the tasks on your machine against the current list with each scheduler request, but this is a lot of overhead for a minimal gain. So, most projects do not utilize this function. So, it is an issue with the BOINC client and server code. It is one of many fairly minor issues that have not yet been addressed by Berkeley. OK - Thanks for the reply. So long as the system sorts itself out in the end it's not a problem and the due date isn't that fare ahead (I'd probably be more concerned if the due dates were next year like in CPDN). Regards, Richard |

The good news is that a project like CPDN has such a small number of outstanding tasks that their systems might actually be able to handle the load of double checking the task list on every scheduler contact. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |
