Pardon my ignorance. Years ago I had a wonderful screensaver "SETI" which crunched numbers at home and then when I connected to the internet, would send that data to a central location. The methods have obviously changed, and I need instruction on how to set up my system. I have downloaded the Bionic application, but my computer doesn't seem to be sending any information or recieving any from my central source. Why is that? I do not have any internet access at my home, so I would like to crunch numbers there and then download that information when I get to a connection. Do I have to request a project every time? I don't want to do that. It takes too much time. I want to have a task that is on-going, and that my computer will automatically retrieve tasks and connect/dowload my work without my prompting. Is there anything like that anymore? Thank you so much for your time. Sincerely, BT

BOINC will attempt to connect when it needs to. It gets work automatically... when a connection is available.

It really depends upon how often your machine has internet access. Are you talking about a laptop that would typically have access at some point most every day?

If you only have an internet connection every couple of weeks, then perhaps climate prediction would be a project that would better fit with your situation. It has very long running work units, and can send trickle up messages when internet is available.

Most other projects have much shorter deadlines to return the work.
