Sorry to learn about stolen lappy. AND depending on the capabilities of the laptop it can take a picture with the webcam. The police can do this without the user even knowing it is on and can then turn it off before they realize they are caught. And this really does happen alot, most thieves, and the people they sell their stuff too, have no clue about computers and just use the pc as they bought it. Me I would wipe it out and start over, but then I wouldn't be stealing, or buying stolen pc's, in the first place!! I hope you can get it back, you need a police department that is willing to help you and not be overworked with other stuff! |

well, if you do have a long enough layover, both M and myself would certainly try to make it out to the airport... Let me know when and where and I will try. |

normal layover is about 2.5 hrs to allow for immigration and customs. so I don't know, layover for 3.5-4hrs or something and then continue west. coming back, it can get complicated. last trip AA had their connecting transcon flight get delayed on its first leg to JFK, got held up. Another time I botched the time we were supposed to be at the airport and the next batch of flights were tight and I do mean tight. No more than 1hr at most layover. So inbound is more predictable. figure it out more in october. what's the main terminal like at Dulles? we never venture off the united terminal. Mikey, good luck with that problem. 5 yrs old seems like a life time in computers. D's dad has a 5 yo lappy as well. but hes just a surfer and dj music mp'3 stuff so his little putter does just fine. well, if you do have a long enough layover, both M and myself would certainly try to make it out to the airport... |

i "think" United's terminal is separate from the main terminal (i.e., you have to ride one of those wide-oversized people-mover buses). also, don't "think" there are many (if any) restaurants outside of the security zone. mikey, do you know? may have to hit a couple of webpages to find out for certain... No I do not know, I have been there many times but just haven't done that. I am either on my way out of town or coming back into town thru there, so no stops for food. And I think they have the subway up and running now, the people-mover buses should be coming to an end in the future. No not the subway that connects to the rest of DC, just the internal subway system that will get rid of the buses. The subway, we call it the Metro, will get to Dulles but not for several years yet. |

i "think" United's terminal is separate from the main terminal (i.e., you have to ride one of those wide-oversized people-mover buses). looking at their map, there is not much of anything worth leaving the secure zone for at the main terminal. so guess we will have to come up with a plan b. but still to early to put anything together. |

Depending upon airfare, I'm thinking about it. Anyone else? The London Citizen Cyberscience Summit is a great chance for scientists and citizens to learn about the latest breakthroughs in citizen cyberscience. It will be a unique opportunity to brainstorm about how new technologies can enhance citizen cyberscience. A bold ambition of the summit is to draft a citizen cyberscience manifesto, involving all the stakeholders in the field. Defeat Censorship! Wikileaks needs OUR help! I don't think Obama or Biden have started selling access yet like Clinton did. Under Clinton if you donated like 50 grand to the Democratic Party you could sleep in the Lincoln Bedroom. |

anyone wanna volunteer to pay for me to attend college? So now you are a 'super lawyer'? What kind of College does a lawyer go to after they get their degree? I mean there isn't a 'Master Lawyer', you either are a lawyer or you aren't, right? My oldest got his 4 year degree from one college and is now pursuing his PHD at another college in 'Graduate School', they are paying so it's okay with me! But where can a lawyer go, it's kind of like a Doctor, after Medical School you are one! Unless of course you pursued other areas. |

@greg_be: nah, i was timely enough to be able to get into the double post, and edit the message, to, well: "double posts, gotta luv 'em !" @mikey: i hear ya. higher education ain't no free ride, unless, you are good enough to have the school offer you a stipend large enough to pay for tuition and some basic living expenses. generally at the phd level. as for law degrees, thats an interesting one. it used to be that a law degree was a LLB, a bachelors of law. But too many lawyers got pissed that after completed another 100 credits after their undergraduate degree, all they had to show for it was a second bachelors degrees. while their friends who continued their education outside of law school, ended up with doctorates (phd, md, dmd, dvm, etc). So, in the mid 1960's, they changed the law degree from a LLB to a JD, Juris Doctor(ate). Now they can be like their friends. Problem was, the professional law degree (LLB, now JD) was not the terminal degree. After the Bachelors of Law, there was the Masters of Law (primarily in tax law, but nowadays, in almost any area of law, but the only place empolyers take a LLM seriously is still only tax law, other areas are just window dressing. And, of course, the rare and elite LLD, the Doctor(ate) of Law, sometimes also granted as a SJD (Doctor of Judicial Science). So, since the change in the 1960's, you now have the situation where a Masters of Laws is actually higher than the (professional) Doctorate, the JD. The "true" Doctorate in law, thus, is not what 99.999% of lawyers have earned, the Juris Doctor(ate), but the extremely rare LLD (SJD). Have i lost everyone yet, lol ?! no? good! everyone put away your books and papers, we're going to have a pop quiz now! Defeat Censorship! Wikileaks needs OUR help!
