Cool, I can see it now, someone on the phone 'grandpa put your underwear on, no I don't want to, and you can't make me! But grandpa I need to check your pulse.'

DNETC and Collatz can both use Nvidia cards for sure, I have had mine at both.

DNETC is here http://www.dnetc.net/

Collatz is here http://boinc.thesonntags.com/collatz/

Congratulations on the new card!!!

thanx!

gonna put it in the dell xps9000 core i7. which means that even though dell uses very strong and underrated psu's, 475w probably ain't gonna cut it, so gotta do a psu swap.

i have mixed feeling about Collatz. i am crunching for them now, because my ati 4350 is too weak for gpu@home and milkyway@home. but, i really wonder about the "science" being done. or is it just a qwik way to expend some electrons, and earn lotsa boinc points.

strange, i feel that something like "gimps" is doing "real" science, but am on the fence about collatz. really the same, isn't it? don't know why i feel there is a difference.

i'll look into dnetc. don't know anything about it right now.

EDIT --> Oh, its a wrapper, like Yoyo@Home, and has the same OGR project, and then RC5? I guess RC5 is what uses gpu's?

Pengy are you running Einstein as well?
If your into Milkyway then check out EAH as well.
Gravitational waves search, plus radio telescope data to run through as well.

btw, I think s/o found your midget cousin the quail.

i grabbed e@h since it uses ligo at hanford which is close to the old home.
seemed like an interesting project to get into.

I do dislike that about Dell pc's, they have always done that, it has probably saved them a ton of money but it costs me more.

i have mixed feeling about Collatz. i am crunching for them now, because my ati 4350 is too weak for gpu@home and milkyway@home. but, i really wonder about the "science" being done. or is it just a qwik way to expend some electrons, and earn lotsa boinc points.

I do not really know what Collatz does except try to prove an open math problem. I am not sure how the validity of proving it helps anything but it lets me use my gpu's to crunch, so I have my Nvidia cards there. I used to have both my aTI and Nvidia cards there but now I crunch for DNETC because they were new and used both ATI and Nvidia cards too. I now have only my ATI cards there. As for MW I do not have a video card that can do double precision so can't use a card there and the cpu takes too long in comparison. As for E@H etc I have crunched for them in the past but mostly I crunch for Malaria right now and Prime Grid when it is down. I like PG because they actually use the results for something. Prime numbers are used as uncrackable passwords, for a short time, in places that need that kind of security.

And Puffins are soooo cute, we saw them on a cruise we took to the Caribbean one time. I wonder if they are cousins of the Penguin on the evolutionary tree?

Greg did you guys eat the Quail? They are good eating to the people that hunt them. My cousin goes Pheasant and Quail hunting every year and always has a freezer full. He lives in California but goes to South Dakota, where he grew up, to hunt. He was in the back of a pickup one time and a Pheasant popped up and he shot it as they were driving along. All the other guys in the truck were amazed, he just said 'we are good at drive by shootings in California'! They almost fell out of the truck laughing!!

Actually, just the opposite. Their 475w psu is probably like anybody else's 600w psu. Dell uses solid psu's. However, with Fermi Jr., to be safe and have some headroom, probably want to err on the side of 700w.

I do dislike that about Dell pc's, they have always done that, it has probably saved them a ton of money but it costs me more.

Crypto is cool! So is stego. If I say any more (Long Live Phil Zimmermann!!!), I'll be going on yet another gov't list...

Don't think so, but then again I may be suffering from flight-envy...

Wikipedia says: "The fresh heart of a Puffin is eaten raw as a traditional Icelandic delicacy."

I need to check something with you guys.
I got rosie, ralph, einstein and milky all on my system.
rosie for a time was pushing credits through the roof.
Then she started nose diving.

So I reduced Einstein share and milky share is already low.
But Einstein keeps piling in the jobs.
Credit for Rosie was at a high of around 1160 and einstein was low around 650 and milky was at a deep low of 250. Now Rosie is crashing downwards, around 760 and einstein is going up but only to about 660. Milky is skyrocketing to 575.

Now task wise, Rosie is almost out, Milky is more or less normal load. Einstein keeps piling it on. What is going on?

Any ideas? Pengy your running Einstein, have you seen this behavior before?

hmmm...

e@h queue is almost empty, and got a zillion rosie's...

don't do mw@h for cpu, not worth it... when fermi jr arrives on wednesday, then i'll add mw@h gpu, since they need gpu's with dp, and fermi has that...

What is your Long Term Debt or LTD in the 'client_state.xml' file? Mine looks like this: <long_term_debt>0.000000</long_term_debt> because I only run one project on this machine. The closer to zero or one the better and more even handed the units will come to you from the different projects. You may have to show the hidden folders if you haven't already in order to see the file.

The other thing is just to shutdown the machine and let it sit for a few minutes, like 5 or 10 to clear the capacitors etc, and then restart it and see if it works fine. Sometimes that really does fix things.

You CAN get it back to normal thru 2 different ways, the 1st is just to leave it alone and Boinc WILL fix it on its own. The 2nd is to exit Boinc and open the file in Notepad, or something like it, and edit the line so instead of:
<long_term_debt>-414798.157419</long_term_debt>

it is more like
<long_term_debt>1.157419</long_term_debt>

Then save the file and and restart Boinc and be prepared for Boinc to do its thing.
