Being as how I have a X-Box 360 already, I'd love to see a BOINC client for it. PLEASE do this, as there are so many 360's just sitting around. Heck I have an old X-Box that would be a decent cruncher as well. The 360 / PS3 are computing at supercomputer levels, no reason to delay trying to crunch with them. BTW, that is a nice video but how do you know what platform it is on? |

Any application for the 360, or any of the other current consoles needs to be digitally signed by the manufacturer, besides the requirement for specialist coding and compiling (to take account of no paging file, specialist hardware etc). The PS3 and 360 also only have 512MB RAM which isn't much when split between 3 cores, so that might have to be considered. It would be a very good thing to have a console client, but isn't straightforward, and requires help from the manufacturer (MS / Sony). The folding video was released by sony in collaboration with stanford. |
