Just joined with new device after a long hiatus, but the boinc client wasn't able to download anything. Every file end up "Download: Retry in xx:xx:xx". Can confirm I am able to join another project and download project files just fine. Is the server of Rosetta@Home okay?

Big discussion on this over on the crunching messages. The answer appears, and I can take no credit for figuring this our, is to edit the "/etc/hosts" file, for unix type machines, and adding a line which says "128.95.160.156 boinc-files.bakerlab.org"

It worked! Thank you for pointing me at the right direction anyway!

Thanks for the information about the apparently problematic DNS details.

But this begs the question: if there are DNS problems with some of the Rosetta servers, why on earth hasn't Rosetta fixed this at their end (drop TTL, update DNS, wait for DNS propagation, job done), rather than apparently expecting contributors (and only those who can be bothered looking at the forums, come to that) to hack around with our own computers' DNS configuration (something not wise to do unless you do know what you are doing)?

You're entirely right, Dave. Nothing else to say.
The reality appears to be that the workload at the project seems to be so great, admins barely have a moment of time to monitor issues like this that arise in the forums.
We're lucky to have a few very capable users who can identify an issue and propose a solution or workaround for the rest of us, without which we'd all die a death.
