I have been running the Boinc Manager software on two of my systems for quite some time now and have enjoyed working on these projects and being a member of the Knights who say Ni.

This morning when I got in the office my 80 GB hard drive, which normally has about 68 GB free, was full-to-the-bustin!

Upon doing a little research I found a single file called "STDERR.TXT" in the slots/0 sub-directory of the Boinc program directory that was 68 GB in size.

I have since deleated this file and all seems to be well for now, but, I would still like to know what in the name of "Ni" is that file and why is it so big?

That file is the place that BOINC/Rosetta (or any other project) stores any error data that is generated by an application as it runs. The file would normally be uploaded when the WU completes it processing. Recently, certain De-Bugging routines have been turned on for rosetta that did increase the number of errors reported to that file. When this was done it was discovered that certain errors were being reported repeatedly by BOINC and causing the file to become very large. This problem has been fixed in the latest release of the Rosetta software.
